Things to avoid during your GD-PI

Formals? Check. Documents? Check. As you strike these items off your list for your upcoming GD-PI, anxieties mount, resurface time and again as the D-Day comes closer.

Therefore, in order to help you sail through your upcoming group discussions and personal interviews for college admissions, it’s important for you to underline the things you have got to not do. Read on to know more.

1. Don't bluff! – It's not a card game

Often to make a confident impression, you tend to give possibly obscure or incorrect answers to questions you're not sure about. This, however, might make the interviewer or observer assume that you're overconfident or impatient. 'I don't know the answer' is at times the best answer.

2. Speak if you have 'something to say', not because you have to 'say something'

Your attentiveness to every detail plays a determining role in an interview or a discussion. In a discussion, don't just pay heed only to the questions asked to you directly, rather also to the ones posed to other candidates. That'll give you an edge over others to better analyse and conclude discussions.

3. Listen carefully and absorb

The intensive knowledge imparted to you better equips you for the modern real world. All UK universities are known for the field specialisation that they offer from their course structure.

4. Don't let your behaviour reflect what you feel within

Even if you're nervous, you need to ensure you don't reflect your anxiety by how you conduct yourself in front of the observers. Your attire also says a lot more than you think it does. Try dressing up in something that adheres to the recruiter's guidelines but also makes you comfortable and confident.

5. Brevity is key

Beware of being overexplanatory while discussing in a group or answering in interviews. Be lucid and precise. Your confidence is best reflected when you present your ideas in a crisp manner.

It's time you trade off panic with performance. All the best for your Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
